Salal Credit Union is looking to welcome a new Quality Control Specialist to the Compliance team. This specialist will be responsible for review and audit of Real Estate loan files and documentation to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, Secondary Market guidelines and Credit Union underwriting policies, standards and procedures.

This role will report to our headquarters office in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle, WA.


What you'll do in this role: 

  • Perform audits on loan files to confirm documents comply with all state and federal regulations, interagency appraisal guidelines, agency guidelines and Credit Union underwriting policies, standards and procedures.
  • Confirm lending officers have stayed within guidelines of lending authority and assess compliance with internal and external lending underwriting standards.
  • Conduct appraisal reviews based on federal laws and/or regulations, interagency guidelines as well as State law and internal Credit Union policies, standards and procedures.
  • Identify problem loans and describe deficiencies.
  • Provide answers and general support to staff regarding Credit Union auditing procedures in a responsive and professional manner.
  • Manage third party vendors and/or appraisers.
  • Evaluate appraisals, title documents, insurance reports, and verification of income records.
  • Review, evaluate, approve, deny and process real estate loan applications. 

The ideal candidate should: 

  • Have 2+ years of experience in a Quality Control position
  • A strong understanding of mortgage functions, guidelines, regulations and audit
  • Preferably a high school diploma or GED
  • Strong skills in communicating clearly
